Master of Science – Mathematics from ANU – The right thing to do!
The Master of Science – Mathematics program of the Centre for Distance Education – ICT Division of the Acharya Nagarjuna University (ANU) is a 2-year postgraduate program where the medium of instruction is English. This is a distance learning program that comes with ICT (information and communication technology) facilities.
Objectives
The M.sc Mathematics from Acharya Nagarjuna University program operates with a number of broad objectives as it were. It wishes to drive home the point that mathematics is a useful and relevant discipline, especially when seen from the point of view of an application. It wants to make sure that the learners have strong fundamental knowledge in various areas and aspects of mathematics. It also wishes to provide them the training necessary to perform well in a number of application based areas.
The M.sc mathematics distance learning program also aims to expose the students to mathematical problems that they could face in their actual life and promote greater use of this discipline in the industry. Last, but definitely not the least, it wants to create a workforce that happens to possess the mathematical capabilities that are needed in order to change the economic and industrial situation that India finds itself in right now.
Eligibility
In order to be considered eligible for the M.sc Mathematics online program, the applicant should have passed either BSc (Bachelor of Science) or BA (Bachelor of Arts) with mathematics as their main, ancillary, or one of the three equal subjects.
Duration of course
As has been said already, this happens to be a two-year program. However, the student will have to complete the program within a period of 5 years from the time that she or he enrolled in the program. They need to follow this time-related restriction in order to obtain first class or second class marks in the same. The program comes with re-registration facilities as well. If a student is unable to complete the program within 5 years of joining she or he can rejoin it by paying two years’ fees. There are certain conditions for such permission though.
This facility will only be provided to students who wish to complete the course, clear their back papers, or wish to improve their percentages. It is not meant for students who are looking to be awarded a higher class. No matter how many marks they score in the re-registration period, the class awarded to them in the first five years will stay the same.
